Magna Utah was settled in 1851, not long after the Mormon pioneers arrived in the Salt Lake Valley. Population is estimated to be around 25,509, of which renters make up about 15%. Magna homes have grown to 6,794 and the estimated median income is $49,910. West Valley City, Kearns, Oquirrh, Taylorsville, and West Jordan are all less than ten miles away.
The western part of the valley where Magna is located will receives some 12 inches of rain and 31 inches of snow each year. Temperatures will average 90 as the summer high and 18 as the winter low. The region is elevated to about 4,261 feet. Not having been incorporated as a city yet has not slowed Magna down. Because there is demand and a good sized population, many developments have taken place including a library, a recreation center, schools, shopping centers, and a local newspaper. The people encourage good health by having a health community fair each year. The purpose of this fair is to help promote a strong, healthy town by providing the opportunities to learn important wellness information and make it a part of life.
Two of the most popular attractions in Magna are the Empress Theatre and the Great Saltair. The Historic Empress Theatre was first opened in 1916 but was closed about 20 years later. It has recently been reopened and shows great plays for the whole family to enjoy throughout the year. The Great Saltair is on the shore of the Great Salt Lake. I is used for about anything you can think of including car shows, concerts, wedding receptions, and more.
Magna Real Estate has seen better days. Like a many other areas of Utah Real Estate, Magna has slipped in both price and number of homes sold. That being said, homes are very affordable in Magna.
