What is the record for the fastest time finishing the West Coast Trail???
When I hiked it last year, I heard that some guy basically ran the entire trail in something like 35 hours! took me six days.
I am not sure of the speed or the date but I think the record was held for a long time by the Canadian Airborne Regiment who had a squad run it as part of an exercise, 35 hrs seems pretty fast, I think it was close to 60 miles end to end on the West Coast Trail, from Port Renfrew, to Bamfield. I went once in early spring, I took much, much longer, but I was more camping than hiking. The only problem that I had was at Nitinat narrows, Every body was away to a funeral at Bamfield and I had to Wait for days for them to return so they would ferry me over, had to return to the beach for camping, too wet and dark at Nitinat to stay there by the crossing and there was bear poop all over at the landing.
